I never tire of it and it is one of those rare films I can put on almost any time and get sucked in.

For me, Tuco is the heart of the film. Sure, he is a liar and he’s crude but he also straddles the line between good and evil — at times he is one or the other. The other two gunslingers underestimate him and think that he’s stupid, but he’s quite cunning. If anything, he’s a survivor that repeatedly escapes death during the course of the film. While Angel Eyes is pure evil, Tuco is just out for himself and therein lies the crucial difference between the two characters.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2118574901486983093.post-27916531396458566872010-05-01T22:37:50.070-07:002010-05-01T22:37:50.070-07:00Unfortunately, the $400 (all in) pass is all I kne...Unfortunately, the $400 (all in) pass is all I knew about for the TCM Festival. I had no idea you could get individual movie tickets for $20.00. That must have really been something to see "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly" at the Chinese (one of my favorite theaters but for God's sake who is booking that joint these days?). Not to mention with the great Eli Wallach in attendance. I did see this version on DVD recently and I found the new material interesting, but only that because the (age) difference in Eastwood & Wallach's voices really pulled me out of the film. Still, this is a staggeringly great film and to see it blown across the Chinese theater's screen would have to be equal to the film's quality (not to mention a possible once in a lifetime chance). I really enjoyed this piece, Mr. Peel. Thanks & keep'em coming.

- BobAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2118574901486983093.post-46310986797870855592010-05-01T13:27:04.564-07:002010-05-01T13:27:04.564-07:00A fine look at this, Mr. Peel. Times Festival of Books in Westwood meant I got to miss a whole lot of it. I'm glad to hear you went to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly showing with Eli Wallach. That must have been something great, my friend. When I think of this actor, his Tuco and his Calvera (The Magnificent Seven) come to mind. God, I hope the great movie cathedrals like The Chinese and The Egyptian continue on. Yeah, I appreciate stadium seating. But watching a film in one of the old and majestic palaces of yesteryear just doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for this, Mr. Peel.le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.com
