It most certainly is in a class by itself, and it's a film that I can't get enough of. As a devout fan of the film WSS, I've attended virtually every screening that's come to our area, and have even made road trips to neighboring states to see West Side Story.

I remember seeing West Side Story at the (now defunct) Charles Cinema in Boston, Mass, back in 1976, where it stayed for three weeks! Since I had a fulltime summer job that summer between school years, I took full advantage of West Side Story's long visit, attending a screening of it every other night!

Every time I see WSS, I notice something that I haven't noticed before, and it always feels like I'm seeing it for the very first time. I can't wait for another screening of it to come back to the Boston area!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2118574901486983093.post-15258285704936905462008-12-14T20:05:00.000-08:002008-12-14T20:05:00.000-08:00I bet it was pretty great at the National as well....I bet it was pretty great at the National as well. I remember going to the old National Theater in Westwood for a rerelease of West Side Story way back in 1976.

I had already seen this film many times before and was especially touched by it since my father, in his youth actually auditioned for a role in the film but didn't make the cut.

I've just seen it again in HD at home and although it looked and sounded spectacular I can only be jealous of your recent experience of seeing it in 70MM.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
