It's just a sad experience overall.

Joe--

MOBSTERS might be more of a total blah than the disaster that WARSHAWSKI is but I still can't remember anything good about it.

There are far worse things than a film that stars Mel Brooks but maybe he's more of a comedy genius than a leading man. And while I'm very glad you enjoyed this piece I honestly have to say that I've never seen THE BUTCHER'S WIFE so no plans for that one right now!Mr. Peel aka Peter Avellinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10553482286909862975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2118574901486983093.post-71445190903900130992010-07-31T18:14:36.229-07:002010-07-31T18:14:36.229-07:00Mobsters was the pick of that weekend for me and e...Mobsters was the pick of that weekend for me and even after giving The Adventures of Ford Fairlane a "9" in my film journal the previous summer, I gave the Christian Slater-Richard Grieko pairing a "1".

I agree that something was taken away when Mel Brooks started playing lead roles in his comedies, even taking a starring role in the teaser trailer for Spaceballs. It's not that he's not funny, but I think a case could be made that his focus was needed elsewhere.

Great piece, Peel. LIFE STINKS was the best of that lot, WARSHAWSKI probably the worst, though I never did make it all the way through ANOTHER YOU because it was just too painful to see Pryor like that. STINKS was a noble, if failed effort, but yeah, needed a different leading man.Halhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09291930694234773688noreply@blogger.com
