Clash of the Titans Redux

And the award for unnecessary remake idea of the day goes to....CLASH OF THE TITANS. CLASH is probably most notable for being the final film that Ray Harryhausen did the effects for. It also came out in the summer of 1981, a season that was owned 100% by RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Everything came second to RAIDERS that summer. The screenplay for RAIDERS was, of course, written by Lawrence Kasdan, back before he went on to direct BODY HEAT and THE BIG CHILL. I suppose that in comparison to RAIDERS, CLASH OF THE TITANS must have seemed kind of old hat. And who's been announced as writing the script for CLASH OF THE TITANS REDUX? Lawrence Kasdan.

So now the teacher becomes the student. Or something.
